Volleyball Hosts Franklin for Home Opener on Tuesday

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College volleyball team will play in Fred Raizk Arena for the first time this season on Tuesday when Franklin College comes to Williams Stadium for a 7 p.m. match. 

The Teams: Wilmington and Franklin. The Fightin' Quakers enter the match with a 3-7 overall record having split a pair of matches at the Rhodes College Classic over the weekend. The Grizzlies are 3-3 on the season and enter the matchup riding a two-match winning streak having defeated Spalding University and Asbury University last week.

The Coaches: A new era of Wilmington volleyball has arrived Sophie Windover, a former collegiate player and assistant at Heidelberg University, enters her second season leading the program. She helped guide the Student Princes to a 21-8 record and an appearance in the AVCA Top 25 Poll. Randi Garrett, who served a stint from 2017-20 as the Grizzlies' assistant coach, enters her second season as head coach.

The Players: Sofia Thomas leads Wilmington offensively as the junior averages 2.23 kills per set while Sydney Geibel and Lili Green both put up over 1.50 kills per set. Bailey Pohlman and Joy Bebe have combined for 36 blocks while libero Blake O'Brien averages nearly six digs per set in the back row. Setter Andie Dolven has dished out 6.40 assists per set. A duo of Grizzlies - Kaitlyn Lavy and Chloe Holder - put down over three kills per set for Franklin. Billie Jarrett averages seven assists per contest.

Tickets: Wilmington College has partnered with Hometown Ticketing for game tickets, which have moved all digital. Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets ahead of game time at the link above.

Series History: Wilmington is 6-10 against Franklin since the 2008 season. The Grizzlies have won the past nine matchups.
