WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College volleyball team opens Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) action at John Carroll University on Saturday. First serve from the Tony DeCarlo Varsity Center is scheduled for 1 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and John Carroll (JCU). The Fightin' Quakers enter the matchup with a 7-11 overall record after recently coming from behind to defeat Anderson University in five sets on Wednesday. The Blue Streaks are 13-3 and riding an eight-match winning streak after a four-set triumph over Hiram College on Wednesday. JCU faces Penn State-Behrend on Friday.

The Coaches: A new era of Wilmington volleyball has arrived Sophie Windover, a former collegiate player and assistant at Heidelberg University, enters her second season leading the program. She helped guide the Student Princes to a 21-8 record and an appearance in the AVCA Top 25 Poll. Michele Benoit, formerly the head coach at Mount St. Joseph University, is in her seventh season as JCU's head coach. 

The Players: Sofia Thomas leads the WC offense to the tune of 2.42 kills per set while Sydney Geibel, Joy Bebe and Sarah Brown all put down over a kill-and-a-half per set. Setter Andie Dolven is coming off a career-high, 55-assist performance against Anderson and averages 7.50 assists per set while libero Blake O'Brien, who tallied 47 digs in Wilmington's five-set thriller against Anderson, averages 6.41 per set. Cassi Calamunci averages nearly four kills per set for JCU while Aly Bartolone and Maddie Maziarz split the setting duties in the Blue Streaks' 6-2 offense and dish out over 10 per set.

Series History: Wilmington is 2-13 against JCU in the last 15 meetings with the Blue Streaks riding a four-match winning streak. More information on the series history can be viewed by visiting the links above.
