Volleyball to Battle Bluffton on the Road on Wednesday

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College volleyball team heads to Bluffton University for a non-conference match at 7 p.m. on Wednesday. 

The Teams: Wilmington and Bluffton. The Fightin' Quakers enter the match with a 5-10 record and riding a two-match winning streak after defeating Olivet College (Michigan) and Spalding University (Kentucky) on Saturday. The Beavers are 8-4 on the season and bring a three-match winning streak to the matchup having recently beat the University of Pittsburgh at Greenburg twice over the weekend. 

The Coaches: A new era of Wilmington volleyball has arrived Sophie Windover, a former collegiate player and assistant at Heidelberg University, enters her second season leading the program. She helped guide the Student Princes to a 21-8 record and an appearance in the AVCA Top 25 Poll. Steve Yarnell is in his 18th season as Bluffton's head coach. The 2003 alumnus of the University of Findlay, led the Beavers to four consecutive NCAA Division III women's Volleyball Tournament appearances from 2013-16 and won the program's first match in the postseason tournament in program history in 2016.

The Players: Both Sofia Thomas and Sydney Geibel put down over two kills per set to lead the Wilmington offense while Lili Green and Joy Bebe put down nearly 1.50 kills per set. Setter Andie Dolven, who recently crossed the 1,000 career assist plateau, assists on nearly seven kills per set while libero Blake O'Brien has over 300 digs in 15 matches thus far this season. A trio of Beavers - Alysha Like, Jenna Woods and Maddie White - all put down two kills per set while Emma Organ and Mackenzie Jones tally over three digs per set.
