Volleyball Falls to Wittenberg & MSJ to Conclude Charlie Wrublewski Invitational

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Wilmington College volleyball team dropped a pair of straight-set contests to close out the 2022 Charlie Wrublewski Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The Fightin' Quakers dropped the first match to Wittenberg University 25-15, 25-12, 25-13 and the second to host Mount St. Joseph University 25-10, 25-17, 25-17.

In the loss to Wittenberg, which is receiving votes to be ranked in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Top 25 Poll, the Tigers hit a .351 clip and relied on the duo of Katie Hiestand and Tyler Linkhart to combine for 27 kills. Mack Ricketts assisted on 28-of-39 kills. The Fightin' Quakers were held to a negative attack percentage with Joy Bebe leading the way with five kills. Sofia Thomas had four kills and two block assists while Blake O'Brien tallied 10 digs.

In the loss to Mount St. Joseph (MSJ), the Lions' trio of Morgan Whitaker, Emily Abshire and Brooke Aselage had 29 of the team's 39 kills. MSJ's 6-2 offense was run by Chloe Warburton and Sam Buschur who tallied 32 assists together. Lili Green hit a .357 clip and put down six kills for Wilmington while O'Brien had 17 digs. 

Wilmington heads to Midway for a tri-match on Tuesday, Sept. 6.
