Big Second Quarter Not Enough as Men's Lacrosse Falls to the Bethany Bison 9-6

*Story by Alex Trevino

Bethany, West Virginia - The Wilmington College men's lacrosse team scored three goals in the second quarter and four Quakers scored in the gam but Wilmington came up just short as the Bison win 9-6 on Wednesday evening.

The leading scorer for the Bethany Bison, Clay Yingling, scored in the first minute of the match and the Bison would never trail after. The Quakers fell behind 3-1 in the first quarter, but a trio of goals by Garrett Murrell, Austin Pagett and Andrew Chevrette had the visitors go into the half with a manageable 5-4 deficit.

Unfortunately, Wilmington could never quite close the gap, and Bethany would go on to win by a score of 9-6.

Justen Shaw scored tonight extending his streak of games with a goal to four. Sophomore goalkeeper Cody Everly made 11 saves for the Quakers. Wilmington lost the first half face-off battle by four, but it as able to close the gap in the second half.

Up next, Wilmington will have a quick turnaround with a game against La Roche College on Thursday at 4 p.m.
