WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College women's basketball team hosts Ohio Northern University for an Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) contest on Wednesday. Tip-off from Fred Raizk Arena is slated for 7 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and Ohio Northern (ONU). The Fightin' Quakers are 4-3 on the season and 1-1 in OAC competition after an 87-59 defeat at the hands of No. 21 Baldwin Wallace University at Fred Raizk Arena on Saturday. The Polar Bears are 4-2 overall and lost their conference opener 60-52 at Marietta College on Saturday.

The Coaches: Wilmington is under the direction of second-year Head Coach Janel Blankespoor, who is in her fourth season with the program having been interim coach during the 2020-21 season and the program's top assistant the two years prior. The 2007 Otterbein College alumna spent stints at Mount Union and Earlham College before coming to Wilmington. Mark Huelsman is in his 10th season at ONU including his third as the Polar Bears' head coach. He, like Blankespoor, served as an assistant coach to longtime WC Head Coach Jerry Scheve.

The Players: Zahrya Bailey leads Wilmington offensively scoring 11.5 points per game while Kennedy Lewis and Kenzie Campbell both score over nine points per contest. Haley Cook joins Lewis and the two Quakers grab at least five per rebounds while Bailey, Lewis, Cook and Jaylah Captain dish out over two assists per game. A quartet of Polar Bears - Jaidyn Hale, Alissa Stahler, Kristen Luersman and Brynn Serbin - score over seven points per game while Stahler and Kate Iliff both grab over five rebounds a game.

Tale of the Tape: Points per game – Wilmington 69.3, ONU 68.3; opponents' points per game – Wilmington 67.5, ONU 55.3; field goal percentage – Wilmington 42.4, ONU 37.4.; three-point percentage – Wilmington 35.1, ONU 29.1; free throw percentage – Wilmington 64.8, ONU 70.5; rebounding margin – Wilmington -0.2, ONU +7.7; assist-to-turnover ratio – Wilmington 0.77, ONU 0.89.

Recent History: Wilmington is 21-29 against ONU since becoming an NCAA Division III member in the early 1990s. The two squads split last season's series with the road team winning both matchups. More information can be viewed by visiting the link above.
