Women's Basketball Opens Final Week of Regular Season at Otterbein

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College women's basketball team opens the final week of the 2021-22 regular season with an Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) contest at Otterbein University on Wednesday. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and Otterbein. The Fightin' Quakers are 7-15 overall and 3-11 in conference games after a 55-39 defeat at the hands of Marietta College on Saturday. The Cardinals are 16-6 on the season and 10-5 in OAC contests after a come-from-behind 73-67 triumph over Heidelberg University on Saturday.

The Coaches: Wilmington is under the direction of second-year Head Coach Janel Blankespoor, who is in her fourth season with the program having been interim coach during the 2020-21 season and the program's top assistant the two years prior. The 2007 Otterbein College alumna spent stints at Mount Union and Earlham College before coming to Wilmington. Diana Noles is in her 10th season on the Otterbein bench including her third leading the program. The 2004 Otterbein graduate was a three-time All-OAC selection during her playing days.

The Players: The Wilmington backcourt duo of Kennedy Lewis and Zahrya Bailey combine to score nearly 20 points and grab nearly nine boards per contest. Kenzie Campbell, Brooke Davis and Haley Cook all score over a half-dozen points per game while Cook joins Bailey to lead the Quakers in rebounding at 4.5 boards per 40 minutes. Katie McCrary leads Otterbein in scoring at 13.6 points per game while Angelia Jackson and Kathleen DeCarlo score at least eight a contest. Jenna Hoschouer joins the aforementioned Cardinal duo in grabbing at least five rebounds.
