WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College women's basketball team hosts the College of Wooster for a 6 p.m. non-conference contest at Fred Raizk Arena on Tuesday evening.

The Teams: Wilmington and Wooster. The Fightin' Quakers sit at 2-2 overall after an unexpected day off last Saturday. WC is looking to rebound after a pair of defeats at the Fred Raizk Memorial Classic earlier this month. The Fighting Scots are 1-4 on teh season and fell to Spalding University and Otterbein University at home as part of the Nan Nichols Classic over the weekend.

The Coaches: Wilmington is under the direction of second-year Head Coach Janel Blankespoor, who is in her fourth season with the program having been interim coach during the 2020-21 season and the program's top assistant the two years prior. The 2007 Otterbein College alumna spent stints at Mount Union and Earlham College before coming to Wilmington. Mary Kate Tierney, a graduate of Ithaca College and former assistant at Case Western Reserve University, was named head coach at Wooster on July 1, 2021.

The Players: Wilmington features a balanced scoring attack as six Quakers score at last five points per game. Kyria Walker and Zahrya Bailey both scored at least eight points a contest while Walker, Kennedy Lewis and Haley Cook grab over four rebounds a game. Walker, Bailey and Lewis assisted on at least two baskets. A duo of Scots - Harley Holloway and Masani Francis - average double figures in scoring at 12.8 and 12.0 point per game respectively. Alyssa Chritz grabs a team-best 9.6 rebounds per 40 minutes.

Tale of the Tape: Points per game – Wilmington 58.7, Wooster 53.4; opponents' points per game – Wilmington 66.0, Wooster 66.8; field goal percentage – Wilmington 38.0, Wooster 33.5; three-point percentage – Wilmington 28.6, Wooster 22.8; free throw percentage – Wilmington 52.0, Wooster 63.6; rebounding margin per game – Wilmington -6.7, Wooster -5.4; assist-to-turnover ratio – Wilmington 0.85, Wooster 0.53.

Recent History: Wilmington is a perfect 4-0 against Wooster since WC became an NCAA Division III member in the early 1990s. This game will be the first meeting between the two schools since Feb. 1, 1995. More information can be viewed by visiting the link above.
