Men's Soccer Welcomes Muskingum to Williams Stadium for OAC Competition

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's soccer team will host Muskingum University on Wednesday at 7 p.m. for its second Ohio Athletic Conference match of the season. 

The Teams: The Fightin' Quakers are 7-2-1 (1-0-0 OAC) after a 3-0 victory over Heidelberg University on Saturday evening. The Muskies are 7-3-1 (0-1-0 OAC) after a 6-0 loss to John Carroll University on Saturday. 

The Coaches: Alex Van der Sluijs is in his second year leading Wilmington's men's soccer team. The 2007 alumnus, who was a three-time First Team All-OAC selection and a member of the program's only team to win an OAC title in 2004, worked at Defiance College for seven seasons. Adam Ponder is in his first season as head coach for Muskingum. He has previously coached as an assistant at Wright State University, Valparaiso University and the University of Mount Union. 

The Players: Nati Wallis has scored seven goals for the Quakers including five goals in the last six games. Zach Burgmeier leads Wilmington in assists with five and has also scored five goals of his own. Felix Maurer is the Quakers' main goalkeeper, recording 21 saves with just five goals allowed. Bailey Adams has dished out four assists and scored as many goals for the Muskies. Goalkeeper Damon Spaeth has made 33 saves including two solo shutouts. 

Regional Rankings: The Quakers are ranked No. 7 in this weeks United Soccer Coaches Great Lakes regional rankings, this is the second week of the season that Wilmington has been ranked in the top ten.

Series History: Wilmington is 24-3-1 against Muskingum since 1991, the Quakers won the last meeting in 2018 7-1.
