WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's soccer team hosts the 2019 Kiwanis Classic at Williams Stadium this weekend.

The Schedule: Wilmington will face Adrian College (Michigan) at 3 p.m. on Friday while Wabash College (Indiana) will face off with Grove City College (Pennsylvania) at 5 p.m. that evening. Saturday's slate includes Adrian vs. Wabash at 1 p.m. and Wilmington vs. Grove City at 3 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington, Adrian, Grove City and Wabash. The Fightin' Quakers enter the weekend 2-0-0 after a 5-0 shutout victory at Mount St. Joseph University on Tuesday. The Bulldogs, which also opened its season with a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) foe, is 1-0-0 thanks to a 6-2 triumph at Franklin College. The Wolverines are 0-1-1 after recently falling to Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) defending regular season champion Capital 4-2 while the Little Giants are 2-0-0 after dispatching HCAC members Franklin College and Earlham College.

The Coaches: Alex Van der Sluijs is in his second year leading Wilmington's men's soccer team. The 2007 alumnus, who was a three-time First Team All-OAC selection and a member of the program's only team to win an OAC title in 2004, worked at Defiance College for seven seasons. Ryan McDaniel is in his second season leading Adrian's men's soccer program while Mike Dreves, a Grove City graduate, has been at the helm of his alma mater for 13 years. Chris Keller is beginning his seventh year as Wabash's head coach.

The Players: Three Quakers have scored multiple goals this year including three from Elorm Dogbey as well as two from both Kevin Kamara and Nati Wallis. Wilmington has yet to allow a goal this season, and Felix Maurer has made two saves in over 125 minutes in goal. Both Grant Perrine and Dylan Wisemont have four points for Adrian while Christian Caporaso and Kennan Roewer have both scored goals for Grove City. Alexis Delgado has netted two goals for Wabash.

About Kiwanis: Kiwanis is a national organization of men and women who share the challenge of community and world improvement. The Wilmington Kiwanis group will be taking donations at the gate throughout the weekend.

Series History: Though Adrian came to the 2018 Kiwanis Classic, Wilmington didn't face the Bulldogs then and hasn't in the last three decades. The Quakers also haven't played Grove City during that stretch either.
