WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's lacrosse team opens the 2022 campaign at non-conference rival Mount St. Joseph University on Wednesday. First face-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and Mount St. Joseph. The Fightin' Quakers are looking to return to winning ways after an 0-13 record during the 2021 season that featured conference-only competition due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Lions opened their 2022 season with a 19-6 loss to Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Indiana, on Saturday.

The Coaches: Wilmington has new leadership in the form of Head Coach Garyck Todd. The 2016 WC alumnus was a four-year member of the program and was a part of the team's first winning season (9-7) in 2015. He previously served as the head coach at Pickerington Central High School for the past three seasons. Jason Susshine is MSJ's head men's lacrosse coach.

The Players: Austin Young, who was the Quakers' top offensive threat a season with with 11 goals and four assists, returns for his senior season. Austin BOndurant and Garrett Murrell both scored a half-dozen goals a season ago. Cole Mericle led MSJ with three goals in its season-opener while Jacob Murray, Antoine Jackson and Mason Meilinger all found the back of the net once.

Series History: Wilmington is 3-1 against MSJ in the last decade including claiming the last matchup, a 20-3 win on March 20, 2018. More information can be viewed by visiting the link above.
