Marietta Defeats Men's Lacrosse

MARIETTA, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's lacrosse team was defeated by the Marietta College Pioneers by a final score of 23-1 on Saturday evening.

The Pioneers held a decided edge in shots on goal in the first period at 10-2. Freshman goal keeper Cody Everly was able to secure the save on four occasions but, nevertheless, Marietta would finish the first quarter leading 6-0. In the second quarter, Marietta swept the face-off battle 7-0 and controlled possession throughout. At the half, the Pioneers led the Quakers 12-0.

Joe Norton scored his first goal of the season and the Quakers lone goal in the game in the second half. The Quakers leading scorer, Austin Young, was credited with the assist. Marietta would go on to win the game by a final score of 23-1. 

Garrett Murrell led Wilmington with four shots on goal in the game. Cody Everly tallied 18 saves on the day. 

Up next, Wilmington will face the Capital Comets on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Quakers' final road contest of the season.
