Muskingum Defeats Men's Lacrosse 20-1

*Story by Alex Trevino

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's lacrosse team fell to Muskingum University 20-1 in an Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) contest at Williams Stadium on Wednesday evening.

Despite a dreary day punctuated by periods of intense rain, the weather at the first face-off was sunny if a little chilly. Wilmington entered the contest without a few key players but, nonetheless, put on a gutty performance. Muskingum scored five goals in the first quarter and six more in the second. Wilmington's Gabe Shaw picked up a ground ball and not only cleared it himself, but was able to score an unassisted goal to break the shutout. At the half, Muskingum would lead 11-1.

The second half would unfold at a similar pace. Muskingum scored eight in the third quarter and scored just twice in the final frame. Wilmington was unable to find the back of the net in the second half and would go on to fall to Muskingum by a final of 20-1.

Wilmington will host a small ceremony honoring its seniors on Saturday just before hosting John Carroll University in Williams Stadium at 1 p.m.
