*Story by Alex Trevino

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's lacrosse team was defeated by the Otterbein Cardinals by a final score of 26-2 in the final game of the season.

The weather in Wilmington was brisk but sunny, a perfect evening for lacrosse. The Quakers came out in the first quarter and played their best offensive quarter in Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) since the first game. Austin Bondurant found the net with one of his three shots on the evening. Freshman Paul Bailey scooped up a ground ball, and was able to take it the length of the field and beat goalkeeper Trevor Rusk with an impressive underhand sling into the back of the net. The remainder of the first half would belong to the Otterbein Cardinals. The halftime score would be 15-2 in favor of Otterbein.

The Quakers were not able to replicate their hot start to the game in the second half. Otterbein would score 11 second half goals and would go on to win the game by a score of 26-2. Freshman goalkeeper Cody Everly had several impressive saves this evening on his way to increasing his single season saves record, the new record is an impressive 246 saves.

Otterbein outshot the Quakers 60-11 and won 24 of the 30 possible face-offs. Wilmington finishes its 2022 season with a 2-15 overall record and 0-9 in OAC play.
