WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College baseball team hosts Hiram College in a series at Tewksbury-Delaney Field this weekend.

The Schedule: The Quakers will face the Terriers in a pair of seven-inning games beginning at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday.

The Teams: Wilmington and Hiram. The Quakers enter the weekend with a 6-7 overall record having most recently come from behind to beat Franklin College 14-11 on the road on Wednesday. The Terriers stand at 5-3 and face Grove City College on Thursday. 

The Coaches: Tony Vittorio, who formerly led the University of Dayton's baseball program for 18 seasons, is in his fifth season as Wilmington's head coach in 2023. He helped lead the Quakers to a 21-19 overall record last season. Phil Brua enters his fourth year as Hiram's head baseball coach. He's 2011 alumnus of Oberlin College.

The Hitters: A quartet of Quakers - Tyler Shaneyfelt, Dominic Depa, Evan Eilerman and Evan Kelsey - hit over a .300 clip with Shaneyfelt lead the way with a .354 batting average. Shaneyfelt and Kelsey have combined to swipe 19 bases and have only been caught twice. Kyle Jennings and Jared Lammert have hit home runs for the Quakers. Kyle Adams leads the Hiram offense with a .462 batting average while Hal Walker Jr. has a team-best six RBIs.

The Pitchers: Aaron Boster and Kaleb Stines both have two victories for WC on the season and both boast ERA under 3.50 with at least a dozen innings pitched. Boster has struck out 3-0 batters for a K/9 of over 11. Jesse Reliford has served as the Quakers' closer and has tallied three saves. Jack Conley and Stephen Javorek are the two Terriers who have logged double-digit innings. Both have ERAs around 4.00.

Series History: Wilmington is 0-1 against Hiram in the last dozen years, falling 4-3 in a neutral-site contest on March 6, 2012. More information on the series history can be found by visiting the link above.
