WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College baseball team concludes the week with three-games in two days on Thursday and Friday.

The Schedule: Wilmington has picked up a single game at Miami University-Hamilton at 4 p.m. on Thursday as the Quakers' scheduled contest with as Asbury University was canceled due to rain on Tuesday. WC will round out the week with an Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) twinbill vs. Heidelberg University at Tewksbury-Delaney Field beginning at 1 p.m. on Friday.

The Teams: Wilmington, Miami-Hamilton and Heidelberg. The Quakers enter the contest with an 8-13 overall record and looking to snap a six-game losing skid after a pair of defeats to No. 5 Baldwin Wallace University at home on Sunday. The Harriers are 26-7 on the season having most recently shutout Wilberforce University 11-0 on Tuesday while the Student Princes are 10-11 overall and 2-2 in league games. Heidelberg most recently fell to Wittenberg University 18-4 on Tuesday.

The Coaches: Tony Vittorio, who formerly led the University of Dayton's baseball program for 18 seasons, is in his fifth season as Wilmington's head coach in 2023. He helped lead the Quakers to a 21-19 overall record last season. Darrel Grissom has been Miami-Hamilton's head coach for the last 23 seasons while Chad Fitzgerald has been on Heidelberg's coaching staff for 16 seasons and is in his 10th as head coach. He led the Student Princes to a 35-15 record and an appearance in the College World Series in 2019.

The Hitters: A quartet of Quakers - Tyler Shaneyfelt, Jesse Reliford, Dominic Depa and Evan Kelsey - hit over a .290 clip and have tallied at least 20 hits on the season. Shaneyfelt leads the team in batting average (.321) along with runs scored (27) and stolen bases (19-for-19). Kelsey has driven in 13 runs while Depa has a team-best four doubles. Andrew Pokley and Kyle Krummen both hit over a .360 clip for Heidelberg while Reece McNeeley has launched four home runs for the squad. Statistics for Miami-Hamilton were not available.

The Pitchers: Aaron Boster leads the Wilmington pitching staff in starts (7), wins (3), innings pitched (46.1) and strikeouts (51) having most recently received a no-decision in an eight-inning outing against the nationally-ranked Yellow Jackets on Sunday. A duo of Student Pricnes - Jackson Powers and Corbin Caplan - have both pitched over 30 innings and have combined for five wins. Powers has a 3.86 ERA with 30 strikeouts. Statistics for Miami-Hamilton were not available.

Series History: Wilmington is an even 1-1 against the Harriers and 3-25 against the Student Princes. The Quakers swept Heidelberg last season, winning both games in Tiffin in 2022. More information on the series history can be found by visiting the link above.
