WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College baseball team travels to Pioneer Park and to Marietta College for an Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) series. The twinbill is slated to begin at 1 p.m. from Pioneer Park.

The Teams: Wilmington and Marietta. The Quakers enter the weekend with an 11-16 overall record and looking to improve upon a 1-7 mark in OAC contests. WC most recently defeated IUPUC 11-9 at home. The Pioneers are 19-8 on the season and 5-3 in conference contests after a home sweep of Otterbein University on Tuesday.

The Coaches: Tony Vittorio, who formerly led the University of Dayton's baseball program for 18 seasons, is in his fifth season as Wilmington's head coach in 2023. He helped lead the Quakers to a 21-19 overall record last season. Brian Brewer, a 1993 Marietta alumnus, has been the Pioneers' head coach for the past 19 seasons. A winner of his 700th game earlier this week, Brewer has guided his alma mater to four national championships with the most recent one coming in 2012.

The Hitters: A quartet of Quakers - Owen Baumann, Jesse Reliford, Tyler Shaneyfelt and Dominic Depa - hit over a .300 clip for WC with Baumann lead the way with a .372 average. Shaneyfelt has swiped 27 bases for the Quakers and also leads the team in runs scored with 38. Caleb Scott has driven in 20 runs while Kyle Jennings & Jared Lammert have each hit a home run. The Pioneers carry a team batting average of .317 with Brett Carson, Nick Bonnizzio and Alex Richter hitting over .375 on the season. Carson leads Marietta in doubles (14), home runs (8) and RBIs (32).

The Pitchers: The Wilmington pitching staff is led by ace Aaron Boster, who leads the team in several pitching categories including innings (51.0), wins (3) and strikeouts (57). He is joined by Zach Shepherd, also a left-handed pitcher, to boast ERAs under 3.50. Kail Hill and Trent Valentine lead the Marietta staff with over 40 innings pitched and ERAs below 3.25. Hill has a 6-1 record with a team-best 51 strikeouts.
