Baseball Looks to Snap Losing Skid at Wittenberg on Tuesday

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College baseball team opens the week with a non-conference contest at Wittenberg University on Tuesday. First pitch is slated for 6 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and Wittenberg. The Quakers are 8-11 overall and looking to snap a three-game losing skid after falling in a pair of games at Muskingum University to open Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play on Sunday. The Tigers stand at 10-5 and have won their last seven games including a sweep of Albion College (Michigan) on Sunday.

The Coaches: Tony Vittorio, who formerly led the University of Dayton's baseball program for 18 seasons, is in his fifth season as Wilmington's head coach in 2023. He helped lead the Quakers to a 21-19 overall record last season. Brian McGee is in his seventh season as Wittenberg's head coach. The Tigers finished last season 27-12 for their best year since the 1995 campaign.

The Hitters: Jesse Reliford, Tyler Shaneyfelt, Evan Kelsey and Dominic Depa all hit over a .300 clip for Wilmington with Shaneyfelt and Kelsey combining for 25 stolen bases on the year. Kesley, Reliford and Lammert have driven in double-digit runs while Lammert and Jennings have hit the team's home runs thus far. Wittenberg hits a .343 clip as a team with Michael Bronowski, Ben Seibert and Chase Whisner hitting over the .400 mark on the season. Conor O'Malley has drive in a team-high 19 runs.

The Pitchers: Aaron Boster leads the Wilmington pitching staff with a 2.82 ERA in 38.1 innings pitched to go along with a 10.81 strikeouts-per-nine-innings ratio. Trent Mendenhall, Zach Shepherd and Mac Davis all boast ERAs under 5.00. A trio of Tigers - Nick Cunningham, Michael Osmond and Nate Floyd - have pitched at least 15 innings and have ERAS under 3.00 for Wittenberg.
