Women's Soccer to Face Earlham in Quaker Bowl Rivalry

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College women's soccer team begins a four game home stand on Tuesday as it faces Earlham College in the Quaker Bowl Rivalry.

The Teams: Wilmington and Earlham. Wilmington (2-1-0) has looked stellar the previous two matches. The Wilmington defense has yet to allow a goal in live play. Earlham (1-0-1) also boasts a defense that has kept two consecutive opponents scoreless. 

The Coaches: Nick Kinder, a 2010 alumnus and four-year member of the men's soccer program, enters his first year as head women's soccer coach. He has spent the last four seasons as the program's top assistant coach including the last six weeks leading the program on an interim basis following the retirement of 30-year Head Coach Steve Spirk. He is just the fifth head coach in the 37-year history of the program as a varsity sport. Former Earlham College women's soccer standout Lydia Harvey serves as the Earlham head coach and is in her second season in that role.

The Players: Alex Wilson has had a scorching start to her freshman campaign as she leads Wilmington with three goals scored through three games earning her OAC offensive player of the week honors. Lauren Galloway the senior goalkeeper for Wilmington earned OAC defensive player of the week honors as she tallied two shutouts moving her into fifth place on the Wilmington all-time shutouts list. This marks the first time in over five years Wilmington has swept the player of the week awards. Mallory Smith and Eva Lyon have each scored two goals for Earlham through two games. 

Series History: Wilmington enjoys a 9-2-0 series lead over Earlham. Wilmington won the most recent match by a 3-0 margin. More information on the series history can be viewed by visiting the link above.
