Women's Soccer Faces Final Regular Season Road Test at Mount Union Saturday

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College women's soccer team heads to The University of Mount Union for a final regular season road contest on Saturday. Kickoff from Kehres Stadium is slated for 7 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and Mount Union. The Fightin' Quakers enter the matchup with a 7-8-0 overall record and a 1-5-0 mark in OAC games after a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Ohio Northern University on Wednesday. The Purple Raiders are 7-3-3 on teh season and 4-2-0 in conference games after a 3-1 win at Muskingum University on Wednesday.

The Coaches: Nick Kinder, a 2010 alumnus and four-year member of the men's soccer program, enters his first year as head women's soccer coach. He has spent the last four seasons as the program's top assistant coach including the last six weeks leading the program on an interim basis following the retirement of 30-year Head Coach Steve Spirk. He is just the fifth head coach in the 37-year history of the program as a varsity sport. Hannah Brown, an alumna of the University of Akron, is in her first season as Mount Union's women's soccer coach. She spent the previous 10 season as head coach at the University of California-Merced.

The Players: A trio of Quakers - Shannon Jamieson, Alex Wilson and Elizabeth Matthews - have tallied double digits in points on the season. The pair of freshmen, Wilson and Jamieson, lead the squad in goals (6) and assists (5) respectively. Defensively, goalkeeper Lauren Galloway surrenders 1.21 goals per game and has five shutouts to her credit. Alyssa Beckett has six goals and 13 points for the ONU offense while Emma Bowman has dished out five assists. The Purple Raider duo of Andrea Decker and Madison Pepper have combined for 21 of the team's 33 goals on the season.

Series History: Wilmington is 14-10-2 against Mount Union since the 1994 season. The Purple Raiders, however, are 8-1-1 in the last 10 meetings. More information on the series history can be viewed by visiting the link above.
