Men's Basketball Faces Road Test at Muskingum on Wednesday

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's basketball team closes out the first half of Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play on Wednesday evening with a road trip to Muskingum University. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and Muskingum. The Fightin' Quakers are 5-10 overall and 3-5 in conference competition after falling 87-84 at Baldwin Wallace University on Saturday. The Fighting Muskies are 7-8 on the season and 2-6 in OAC play. Muskingum has lost five straight games in January including a most recent 69-62 loss at Heidelberg University on Saturday.

The Coaches: K.C. Hunt is in his 13th season as head coach of Wilmington's men's basketball program. Hunt, who has coached two All-Americans and seven of the school's 1,000-point scorers, led the Quakers to OAC Tournament titles in 2010 and 2014. He garnered Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year honors for guiding Wilmington to OAC Tournament title and a win in the NCAA Division III Tournament in 2010. Travis Schwab, a four-time First Team All-NCAC selection as a student-athlete at Ohio Wesleyan University, is in his fifth season as Muskingum's head coach.

The Players: Jeffery Mansfield in Wilmington's leading scorer at 18.0 points per game and is coming off of a career-high 35-point performance at Baldwin Wallace on Saturday. Three other Quakers – DaeShawn Jackson, Colin Myers and Abdul Kanu – also double in double figures. Mansfield, Jackson and Myers all grab over four rebounds per game while Payton Smith dishes out a team-best 4.3 assists per contest. Marcus Dempsey, the second-leading scorer in all of NCAA Division III, averages 31.0 points per game. He is also the Muskies' second-best rebounder at 4.8 boards per 40 minutes.
