Men's Basketball Heads to John Carroll

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's basketball team heads to John Carroll University for an Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) contest on Saturday. Tip-off from the DeCarlo Center is slated for 2 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and John Carroll (JCU). The Fightin' Quakers are 4-8 overall and 2-3 in OAC play after falling 92-87 to Capital University at home on Wednesday. The Blue Streaks are 9-3 on the season and also 2-3 in conference play. JCU is riding a two-game winning streak after wins over Ohio Northern University 85-72 and at Otterbein University 76-59.

The Coaches: K.C. Hunt is in his 13th season as head coach of Wilmington's men's basketball program. Hunt, who has coached two All-Americans and seven of the school's 1,000-point scorers, led the Quakers to OAC Tournament titles in 2010 and 2014. He garnered Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year honors for guiding Wilmington to OAC Tournament title and a win in the NCAA Division III Tournament in 2010. Pete Moran, a 2008 graduate of JCU, is in his third season as the Blue Streaks' head coach. He led his alma mater to a "Sweet 16" berth in his first season.

The Players: Four Quakers score in double figures including Jeffery Mansfield and DaeShawn Jackson that both score over 16 points per game. Colin Myers, who is coming off of back-to-back career-high scoring games, and Abdul Kanu also score in double figures for Wilmington. Rebounding is a team effort as four Quakers grab at least four rebounds per game. JCU is led in scoring by the Berger brothers as Ryan and Jimmy both score over 19 points per game. Jackson Sartain also scores in double figures for the Blue Streaks.

Tale of the Tape: Points per game – Wilmington 73.0, JCU 87.5; opponents' points per game – Wilmington 77.5, JCU 78.8; field goal percentage – Wilmington 43.2, JCU 48.5; three-point percentage – Wilmington 31.8, JCU 31.3; free throw percentage – Wilmington 66.7, JCU 69.8; rebounds per game – Wilmington 30.2, JCU 36.3; assist-to-turnover ratio – Wilmington 1.03, JCU, 1.4.
