NEWPORT NEWS, Virginia – For the second consecutive game, an opponent has come from behind to defeat the Wilmington College men's basketball team. On Saturday, the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point staged a 19-point comeback capped by an old-fashioned, three-point play from preseason All-American Ethan Bublitz with three seconds to play giving the Pointers a 70-60 victory at the Christopher Newport Invitational.

The teams were knotted 7-7 five minutes into the game, but the Fightin' Quakers took control with a 17-0 run capped by a DaeShawn Jackson jumper at the 7:47 mark. UWSP, trailing 30-16 with 3:22 to play in the half, answered with an 11-0 run of its own to end the half trailing by just three (30-27).

Though the Pointers drew close, the Quakers wouldn't relinquish the lead early in the second half and actually grew it as a Jeffery Mansfield layup with 8:21 to play gave Wilmington a 58-39 advantage. UWSP chipped away and got within seven points with six points (68-62) with just under a minute to go.

After a missed layup from Jackson, another Pointer triple, this one from Bublitz, made the game a single-possession contest. The Pointers were forced to foul, and it paid off as Wilmington missed both free throws. A layup that followed cut the Quakers' lead to a single point (68-67) with 18 seconds left.

Another intentional foul followed, and this time, Wilmington made 1-of-2 from the charity stripe, setting up Bublitz's game-winner.

Bublitz led all scorers with 28 points including a perfect 18-of-18 at the free throw line. UWSP, as a team, made 26-of-28 (92.9 percent) from the charity stripe compared to 16-of-23 (69.6 percent) for Wilmington.

Mansfield led Wilmington in scoring with 22 points to go along with four rebounds, four assists and two steals. Jackson added 16 points, six rebounds, three steals and two blocks.

The Quakers (1-4) have a quick turnaround as they face the University of Texas-Dallas tomorrow (Sunday) at 2 p.m.
