GAME PROGRAM - FRIDAY AT WC

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College baseball team continues Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play with a four-game series against Capital University this weekend. The Fightin' Quakers will host the Crusaders for a twinbill at Tewksbury-Delaney Field on Friday (change from Saturday due to graduation at both institutions) and will head to Bexley for a doubleheader on Tuesday. Start times for both contests are slated for 1 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and Capital. The Quakers enter the weekend with a 7-23 overall record including a 6-20 mark in Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play after falling to the University of Mount Union in a four-game series over the weekend. The Crusader are 4-26 on the season after being swept by Baldwin Wallace University in four games over the weekend.

The Coaches: The 2021 season continues the new era for Wilmington College baseball team as the head coach Tony Vittorio starts his third season in charge of the program. He most recently served as the head coach at the University of Dayton for 18 seasons. Scott Manahan is in his first season as Capital's interim head baseball coach.

The Hitters: Jesse Reliford leads Wilmington in doubles (11) and RBIs (24) while hitting for a .306 average in his first collegiate season. Fellow freshman Tyler Shaneyfelt leads the Quakers on the base paths with 14 stolen bases. Caleb Scott, who hits a .252 clip, has belted three home runs on the season. The Crusader duo of Logan White and CJ Rockwell have combined to drive in 36 of Capitals 104 RBIs on the season. The two have also hit the club's eight home runs to date.

The Pitchers: Luke Chappie has been Wilmington's most effective pitcher to date having thrown a team-best 51 innings with two complete-game victories. Kaleb Stines and GlenAllen Anderson have been the other two consistent starters for the Quakers with both having pitched a compete game. Additionally, Aaron Boster will enter the series off his best collegiate outing – a complete game against Mount Union on Sunday. Tucker Craft has been Capital's most effective pitcher to date with a 3.57 ERA and 30 strikeouts in 40.1 innings pitched.

Series History: Wilmington is 4-18 against Capital since the 2007 season. The Quakers are 1-9 against the Crusaders over the last 10 meetings. More information on the series history can be viewed by visiting the link above.
