ADA, Ohio – Ohio Northern University (ONU) scored seven runs in the first three innings of game one and come from behind to win game two 2-1 and sweep the Wilmington College baseball team in an Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) doubleheader on Sunday afternoon.

In game one, the Polar Bears scored in each of the first three innings including a four-run first inning to take a 7-0 lead after three complete. Both teams tallied 10 hits in game one, but the Fightin' Quakers couldn't put them together for a big inning. The visitors would score a run in the fourth as Jesse Reliford led off the inning with a single and later scored via an error. ONU would add its final two runs in the sixth with Joe Legin hitting a solo home run to right field, the first of his career, in the eighth for the game's final run.

Thomas Hueber took the loss allowing nine earned runs on 10 hits with three strikeouts and seven walks in 5.1 innings pitched. Ryan Townsend pitched effectively in relief, retiring eight straight Polar Bears with one strikeout. For ONU, James Fisher earned his third win of the season going eight innings and allowing 10 hits and two earned runs.

Offensively, Reliford, Scott and Corbin Craft all had multi-hit games for Wilmington while Corey McMann led the way for the Polar Bears with a 2-for-4 performance with two RBIs, two runs scored and a walk.

In the nightcap, Wilmington scored on an unearned run in the top of the first inning, but that would be all the Quakers would get off of Polar Bear starter Tom Pitko. The visitors would get just one other runner into scoring position in the fourth inning on a steal of second.

Pitko's counterpart, GlenAllen Anderson, pitched admirable as well. The first-year member of the Wilmington program scattered nine hits with three strikeouts in eight innings pitched, but unfortunately got a loss for his efforts as the Polar Bears plated two runs on three hits in the sixth for the win.

Logan Stevens, Jacob Wenning and Michael Rocco had multi-hit games for ONU while Chayten Overholt and Sam Zeleznik tallied the RBIs in the sixth inning. Three Quakers - Owen Baumann, Caleb Scott and Jacob Feltner - all hit singles for the Quakers.

ilmington (4-18, 3-15 OAC) will face John Carroll University for a four-game series next weekend.
