WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College baseball team continues Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play with a four-game series against John Carroll University this weekend. The Fightin' Quakers will head to University Heights on Saturday and host the Blue Streaks for a twinbill at Tewksbury-Delaney Field on Sunday. First pitch of both days is slated to begin at 1 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and John Carroll (JCU). The Quakers are 4-18 overall and 3-15 in conference competition after taking 1-of-4 games. The Blue Streaks are an even 11-11-1 on the year after falling in 3-of-4 games to the University of Mount Union last weekend.

The Coaches: The 2021 season continues the new era for Wilmington College baseball team as the head coach Tony Vittorio starts his third season in charge of the program. He most recently served as the head coach at the University of Dayton for 18 seasons. Bobby Bell has been on the JCU coaching staff for the last seven years and is currently in his second season as head coach.

The Hitters: Aaron Burns leads Wilmington in batting average with a .435 clip to go along with three doubles and six walks. A trio of Quakers - Evan Kelsey, Tyler Shaneyfelt and Jesse Reliford also hit near a .300 clip for the Quakers while Caleb Scott joins Reliford and Kelsey to tally double digits in RBIs. Justin Hanley leads the Blue Streaks with five home runs and 28 RBIs. Both Joseph Olsavsky and Henry Haracz carry batting averages over a .375 clip.

The Pitchers: Luke Chappie has been Wilmington's most effective pitcher to date having thrown a team-best 42 innings with a complete-game victory. GlenAllen Anderson, despite receiving a loss over the weekend, allowed just two earned runs in eight innings against the Polar Bears. Both Quakers have ERAs in the low 6.00s. A trio of Blue Streaks – John Merrill, Andrew Steele and Mitchell Midea – have thrown over 21 innings and won multiple games for JCU. All three have ERAs between 4.00-5.50.
