WILMINGTON, Ohio – Wilmington College Head Baseball Coach Tony Vittorio announced some coaching changes on Wednesday. Terry Bell, former Major League Baseball player, has joined the program as an assistant coach while Jared Ferenchak, a 2019 WC graduate, has added the responsibility of recruiting coordinator to his duties.

Bell, who will work with both catchers and hitters, spent three years as an assistant at Sinclair Community College and 20 years coaching at The University of Dayton with 18 of those seasons as an assistant to Vittorio.

A catcher himself, Bell graduated from Fairmont East High School and was drafted in the fifth round by the Oakland A's. He attended Old Dominion University instead and was an All-American while playing for the Monarchs. He also earned Sun Belt Conference MVP accolades in 1983.

He participated in the 1982 World Games and the 1983 Pan American Games before being selected in the first round of the 1983 draft by the Seattle Mariners. Bell broke into the majors with the Kansas City Royals in 1986 and played the next season with the Atlanta Braves. He retired in 1989.

"Terry comes to Wilmington College with extensive experience at the college and professional levels," said Vittorio. "I am excited to have the continuity back with Terry along with his player development skills as he was my long-time assistant at The University of Dayton."

A 2019 WC graduate, Ferenchak was a four-year member of the baseball team as a primarily a starting pitcher. He started in 34 career games and pitched 213 innings wearing the Green & White. As a senior, he was named the team's Most Valuable Pitcher, leading the team in several categories including: wins, innings pitched, saves, compete games and earned run average.

"Jared knows the insides and outs of Wilmington College," Vittorio said. "His loyalty to the baseball program along with his work ethic and organizational skills fits our present needs as an assistant coach in our program."
