WILMINGTON, Ohio - Marietta College, ranked No. 12 in NCAA Division III baseball, put up 22 hits and scored multiple runs in six of the nine innings in a 26-3 Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) victory over the Wilmington College baseball team at Tewksbury-Delaney Field on Monday afternoon.

The game gives the Pioneers (10-1) a series sweep and puts the Fightin' Quakers with a 1-10 record.

Marietta scored in the first five innings including three in the first, two in the second, three in the third, one in the fourth and eight in the fifth thanks in large party to seven Wilmington walks. Down 17-0, Wilmington would get two runs on a bases-loaded walk and hit-by-pitch in the seventh and a Mac Davis RBI-single to left center in the eighth, but six more Pioneer runs in the ninth ended the game.

Sam Matthews got the win for Marietta in a planned bullpen day, pitching four innings of scoreless baseball. Jesse Reliford took the loss for Wilmington, allowing five earned runs on eight hits in two innings. Five other Quakers pitched, and Tyler Shaneyfelt was the lone individual to not give up any runs as the freshman pitched two scoreless innings with a strikeout.

Offensively, Caleb Scott and Davis both had two-hit afternoons for Wilmington. Scott had the squad's lone extra base hit while Davis drove in both runs. Eight of the nine Pioneer starters had a hit including Turner Hill's 4-for-5 performance with two RBIs, two walks and five runs scored. Damian Yenzi and Drew Holderbach combined for 10 RBIs.

Wilmington will face Muskingum University for a four-game series this Friday and Saturday (adjusted due to Easter holiday on Sunday).
