WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College baseball team finished the 2021 regular season this weekend with an Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) series against Heidelberg University this weekend. The Fightin' Quakers will travel to Tiffin for a twinbill on Friday and host the Student Princes at Tewksbury-Delaney Field on Saturday. First pitch of both days is slated for 1 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and Heidelberg. The Quakers enter the weekend with an 11-23 overall record, a 10-20 OAC mark and riding a four-game winning streak having swept Capital University. The Student Princes are 19-15-1 on the year and 16-14-1 in conference play after falling in 3-of-4 games to nationally-ranked Marietta College.

The Coaches: The 2021 season continues the new era for Wilmington College baseball team as the head coach Tony Vittorio starts his third season in charge of the program. He most recently served as the head coach at the University of Dayton for 18 seasons. Chad Fitzgerald is in his seventh season leading Heidelberg's baseball program including his seventh as head coach. Fitzgerald led the Berg to the College World Series in 2019.

The Hitters: Jesse Reliford leads Wilmington offensively with 25 RBIs, a dozen doubles, 17 stolen bases and is one of four Quakers – Tyler Shaneyfelt, Joe Legin and Aaron Burns – to hit over a .300 clip. Caleb Scott has a team-best three home runs and is second on the squad in doubles with nine. Heidelberg is led by the duo of Keaton Mark and Marc Ochoa. Both hit over a .360 clip and have driven in 26 runs.

The Pitchers: Luke Chappie has been Wilmington's most effective pitcher to date having thrown a team-best 56 innings with two complete-game victories. Kaleb Stines, GlenAllen Anderson and Aaron Boster round out the Quakers' rotation. All three of them have pitched a complete game including Boster's seven-inning gem the last time Wilmington took the field. A trio of Student Princes – John Hassler, Ryan Hackworth and Jake Hall – have thrown over 35 innings and carry ERAs in the 3.00s. Ross Thompson, the squad's leading in innings pitched at 56.2 also leads Heidelberg in strikeouts with 44.

Senior Day: Saturday's twinbill marks the final regular season home games for five seniors - Thomas Hueber, Cameron Harbert, Joe Legin, Ryan Townsend and Luke Kleindl. A brief ceremony will be held prior to first pitch of game one on Saturday.

Series History: Wilmington is 1-21 against Heidelberg since the 2009 season with the win coming on April 10, 2010. More information on the series history can be viewed by visiting the link above.
