Women's Lacrosse takes on Adrian Saturday

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College women's lacrosse team will compete in Adrian, Michigan this Saturday. The Quakers will take on the Bulldogs of Adrian College and the game is scheduled to start at 5 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington is coming off an impressive and decisive win against Mt. St. Joseph University on Wednesday, getting the first win of the season and improving its record to 1-3 overall. Adrian is coming off a three-game losing streak and will be looking to get its first win of the season.

The Coaches: Taylor Martin is in her first season at the helm of the Wilmington women's lacrosse program. Martin spent her last two years as a graduate assistant at Castleton University where she received her master's degree in Athletic Leadership. Prior to her time at Castleton, Martin was the director of Lacrosse and Head Coach at a boarding school north of London. Martin competed for Berry College and started all four years as the goalie. Adrian is led by fourth-year head coach Elizabeth Szymanski. Szymanski has a 9-32 record in her first three years ar Adrian. The Bulldogs are coming off their best finish in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) last season since 2014.

The Players: Wilmington has been led by Becca Petra so far this season. In Petra's last game she scored five goals and added one assist. Rachel Reinhart has accumulated eight points this season, scoring four goals and four assists. Defensively, Wilmington is led by Goalie Meghan Wieloch who has picked up 55 saves on the season while Hannah Gratsch and Abby Engelhart have picked up 15 and 14 ground balls, respectively. Adrian is led by a trio of players on the offensive side of the ball. Seniors Alex Branum and Jenna Carter have accounted for 11 of the teams 29 points while stand-out junior Annie Rice, has scored nine points in the Bulldogs first three games. Hannah Emerson has started all three games in goal and has totaled 19 saves on the season.
