WILMINGTON, Ohio - Franciscan University scored nine goals in each half in an 18-8 victory over the Wilmington College women's lacrosse team in a non-conference game played at Williams Stadium on Sunday.

Becca Petra opened the game with a goal on a free position shot less than a minute into the contest. Franciscan responded with three unanswered goals until Petra cut the Fightin' Quakers deficit in half with her second goal of the game midway through the first half. Leading 3-2, Mary Krolicki gave the visitors a 4-2 edge with a goal at the 13:07 mark, but Petra answered again for the hosts completing her hat trick with an unassisted goal two minutes later.

Unfortunately for Wilmington, Franciscan scored the first half's final five goals to take an 9-3 lead into halftime.

The Barons stretched their lead to 10-3 on a Carly McDonald goal just more two minutes into the second half, but the Quakers responded with three consecutive goals including one from Rachel Reinhart, assisted by Petra, and two more Petra goals. Wilmington could not get closer than 10-6, however, as a four-goal run in three minutes to put the game out of reach.

Franciscan held a 39-23 shots advantage as well as a 38-32 edge in ground balls. Wilmington converted 19-of-28 clear attempts compared to 22-of-25 for the Barons.

Individually, Petra was involved in all eight Wilmington goals, scoring six herself and assisting on both of Reinhart's goals. Madison Miller grabbed a team-high six ground balls while Abby Englehart won four draw controls. In goal, Megan Wieloch made 10 saves on 28 shots faced.

McDonald led the Barons with five goals and one assists.

Wilmington (2-12) opens its final week of the 2018 regular season by hosting Capital University at 5 p.m. on Wednesday.
