Women's Lacrosse Faces Off Against Mt. St. Joseph on Wednesday

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College women's lacrosse team will finish its three-game homestand by hosting Mt. St. Joseph University (MSJ) on Wednesday, March 7.  The game is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. at Williams Stadium.

The Teams: Wilmington struggled in its last game against a touhh and competitive Ursuline Arrows team, falling 17-4. The Quakers will look to get competitive with the Lions in Wilmington's fourth game of the season.  MSJ will be opening up the season against the Quakers on Wednesday.

The Coaches: Taylor Martin will begin her first season at the helm of the Wilmington women's lacrosse program. Martin spent her last two years as a graduate assistant at Castleton University where she received her master's degree in Athletic Leadership. Prior to her time at Castleton, Martin was the director of Lacrosse and Head Coach at a boarding school north of London. Martin competed for Berry College and started all four years as the goalie. Mt. St. Joseph is led by Paige Apel in her first year at the helm. Apel was an assistant coach for The Mount from 2014-17, and also played for the Lions from 2009-2012.

The Players: Wilmington has been led by a trio of players offensively this year, with Rachel Reinhart, Becca Petra, and Kelly Angevine accounting for 10 out of the teams 11 goals. Goalie, Megan Wieloch has paced the Quakers defense with accounting for 38 Quakers saves.  Hannah Gratsch has led the way defensively in the field, totaling 10 ground balls and causing 8 turnovers. Mt. St. Joseph returns starting goalie Kat Mapes for her senior season that totaled up 76 saves last season. The Lions will also be returning starting Attack Kara Marshall who totaled 17 goals last season.
