Women's Lacrosse Travels to Earlham for Quaker Bowl on Wednesday

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College women's lacrosse team will compete in Richmond, Indiana this Wednesday against Earlham College. The game is scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington is coming off a loss from the Hiram Terriers last week. The Quakers will be looking to get back into the win column during the third game of a four-game road stretch. Earlham (0-3) will also be looking to get in the win column as it has gone winless in the first three games of the season.  The Quakers are coming off a loss from Heidelberg this past Saturday.

The Coaches: Taylor Martin is at the helm of Wilmington College in her first season. Martin is coming off her first career coaching win, against Mt. St. Joseph University. Martin spent her last two years as a graduate assistant at Castleton University where she received her master's degree in Athletic Leadership. Prior to her time at Castleton, Martin was the director of Lacrosse and Head Coach at a boarding school north of London. Martin competed for Berry College and started all four years as the goalie. Molly Macdonald enters her second season as head women's lacrosse coach at Earlham College for the 2017-18 season. Macdonald spent the 2016-17 academic year recruiting and will lead the Quakers in their first year of competition in the Ohio River Lacrosse Conference (ORLC) in 2017-18.

The Players: Wilmington's offense has been led by Becca Petra so far this season. On the season, Petra has scored 10 goals and four assists. Rachel Reinhart has accumulated nine points this season, scoring six goals and three assists. Defensively, Wilmington is led by Goalie Meghan Wieloch who has picked up 77 saves on the season while Hannah Gratsch and Abby Engelhart have picked up 21 and 18 ground balls, respectively. Earlham's offense is led by Olivia Wallace who has scored 3 goals on the season. Defensively, the Quakers are led by Jordan Blackburne who has caused three turnovers and has 47 saves so far this year.

Quaker Bowl Rivalry: The athletics departments of Wilmington and Earlham have re-created the Quaker Bowl rivalry. Originally a traveling trophy for just football and men's basketball, the bowl will now be competed for across all sports the two schools compete in. Wilmington leads the 2017-18 standings 7-2 with the only losses being in volleyball and baseball. More information on this year's Quaker Bowl matchup can be found by visiting the link above.
