Women's Lacrosse Home Opener Wednesday against Trine

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College women's lacrosse team will compete in the home opener against Trine on Wednesday, February 27. The game is scheduled to start at 5 pm at Williams Stadium.

The Teams: Wilmington opened up the season with a tough loss to Kalamazoo this past Saturday. Wilmington will be looking to capitalize on last year's loss to Trine where the Fightin' Quakers fell 20-10. Trine opened up the season against Ohio Northern on the road losing 15-8.

The Coaches: Taylor Martin will begin her first season at the helm of the Wilmington women's lacrosse program. Martin spent her last two years as a graduate assistant at Castleton University where she received her master's degree in Athletic Leadership. Prior to her time at Castleton, Martin was the director of Lacrosse and Head Coach at a boarding school north of London. Martin competed for Berry College and started all four years as the goalie. Trine is led by head coach Madeline Dugan who started in the summer of 2016. In her first year, Dugan led Trine to a 3-12 overall record.

The Players: Wilmington has been led by Rachel Reinhart so far this season. In the first game of the year, Reinhart scored the two lone Wilmington goals on four shots in a loss to Kalamazoo. Defensively, Wilmington is led by goalie Meghan Wieloch who amounted 10 saves in her first outing along with Abby Englehart who picked up six ground balls. Trine has been led by Kristin John so far this season. John scored three goals in the opening game on four shots. Audrey Poteet leads Trine in goal and picked up 19 saves in her first game.
