RESULTS

ASHLAND, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's track & field team sent 14 individuals to compete in six events at the Jud Logan Light Giver Open hosted by Ashland University on Saturday. The event was originally scheduled for two days and moved to a single day due to weather in the region.

Six Fightin' Quakers threw in the weight throw with Joe Shuga leading the way. The fifth-year senior hurled a personal-best throw of 60' 1 3/4" to finish eighth. That mark, currently the fifth-best in all of NCAA Division III, is just under a foot off the program record, set by Hank Benedict in 2001. JJ Durr placed three spots behind his teammate with a throw of 56' 10" while Justin Shuga's throw of 53' 10 1/4" placed him 15th. A trio of Wilmington throwers - Nate Marcum, Nathan Borgan and Andrew Pacifico placed 24th (50' 10"), 25th (49' 11 3/4") and 26th (49' 11 1/4") respectively. Durr and Justin Shuga also threw in the shot put, but Blake Jamison had the team's best throw (47' 7 3/4") to place 16th.

In track events, Simon Heys took fifth in the 3,000-meter run (8:26.84) while Noah Tobin finished 48th (9:04.91) in the same race. In the mile run, Eric Reynolds (41st) and Josh Cyrus (45th) finished within 90 seconds of each other by crossing the finish line in 4:40.08 and 4:41.25 respectively. In middle distance, Aidan Henson took 47th in the 800-meter dash by crossing the finish line in 2:03.48. Reynolds and Henson teamed up with Anthony Gilmore and George Rickett to run the distance medley relay in 11:03.56.

Wilmington returns to action at the All-Ohio meet hosted by Otterbein University on Feb. 12.
