ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Wilmington College men's track & field team came out of day one of the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Indoor Championships in third place with 43 points, just ahead of Ohio Northern in fourth place with 35 points. Hosts, Mount Union, are leading the way with 92 points and John Carroll in second with 56 points.

One of the many highlights of day one was the weight throw squad. They outdid themselves today as they claimed all three podium spots along with a fifth and seventh place finish and 30 total points. Joe Shuga led the group as he was crowned OAC weight throw champion with a toss of 60' 11.5". Finishing in second with a throw of 60' 3.25", JJ Durr solidifies a national qualification and continues to shine in his freshman season. Coming in third, Nathan Marcum threw a lifetime best of 56' and rounded out the top three spots for the squad. Andrew Pacifico and Nathan Borgan finished fifth and seventh respectively to finish the scoring for the Quakers.

Simon Heys took second place in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 14:38. After a third-place finish at conference last year in the event, Heys came back with a chip on his shoulder and improved upon the mark. George Rickett and Noah Tobin finished just shy of scoring as they ran neck and neck for 11th and 12th respectively. To close out the first day of scoring for the Quakers, the Distance Medley Relay (DMR) made up of Heys, Dane Klosterman, Aidan Henson and Eric Reynolds finished in fourth with a time of 10:40.

Wilmington will be back at it again tomorrow for day two of OAC Indoor Championship action.
