Men's Track & Field Ranked in Several Categories Early in Indoor Season

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's track & field team has had a great beginning to the 2021-22 indoor season, and that start sees the Fightin' Quakers appearing in the regional rankings as well as a couple of other national rankings, both published by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). See below:

  • WC currently sits No. 42 nationally.

  • The team is ranked No. 5 in the Great Lakes Region behind the University of Mount Union, John Carroll, Trine and Wittenberg.

  • In the weight throw, Wilmington is ranked second in the country behind only Carthage.

  • In the shot put, Wilmington is ranked fifth nationally behind SUNY-Brockport, Carnegie Mellon, MIT and Carthage.

  • In the 5,000-meter run, the Quakers are ranked ninth nationally.

Additionally, several individuals are ranked nationally. See below:

  • Blake Jamison is currently 15th in the shot put (50' 3 1/4")

  • Joe Shuga is currently ninth in the weight throw (58' 11 1/2")

  • Simon Heys is currently sixth in the 5,000-meter run (14:32.43) and 19th in the 5,000-meter run (8:26.01)

  • JJ Durr is currently 33rd in the weight throw (54' 8 1/4")

  • Justin Shuga is currently 45th in the weight throw (53' 6 1/4")

 

Several individuals are in action at the Jud Logan Light Giver Open hosted by Ashland University this weekend.
