WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College baseball team hosts a pair of Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) twinbills ahead of the Easter Holiday weekend. The Fightin' Quakers will host the University of Mount Union on Friday and Capital University on the following Friday. Both doubleheaders are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington, Capital and Mount Union. The Quakers enter the pair of series 12-13 on the season and 1-5 in conference games after a pair of defeats at No. 1 Marietta College over the weekend. The Comets are 7-17 overall and winless in conference games after falling to Baldwin Wallace University in a twinbill on Sunday. Mount Union, on the other hand, is 18-8 overall and 6-2 in conference games after a sweet of John Carroll University at home on Tuesday.

The Coaches: Tony Vittorio, who formerly led the University of Dayton's baseball program for 18 seasons, enters his fourth season as Wilmington's head coach. For the first time in nearly a decade in 2021, the Quakers didn't finish 10th in the OAC, turning in an eighth-place finish with a 10-24 conference mark. Scott Manahan enters his second season as Capital's head coach after serving as the Comets' interim skipper in 2021. Paul Hesse, a 1982 Mount Union graduate, is the winningest coach in Purple Raider baseball history. He's amassed over 500 victories in his 26 seasons as head coach.

The Hitters: A trio of Quakers – Caleb Scott, Dominic Depa and Aaron Burns – have driven in at least 20 runs while Evan Kelsey, who hits a .383 clip, and Tyler Shaneyfelt have swiped over a dozen bases thus far this season. Scott leads the team in average (.394) and slugging percentage (.585). Logan White has a .404 batting average and has driven in 25 runs to lead the Comets while Ryne McKinney has driven in 17 runs. Cole Callaghan has stolen 13-of-15 bases. For Mount Union, Nate Duliba has a .404 batting average to go along with 10 stolen bases whiel Eric Schilling has drive in 26 runs.

The Pitchers: Aaron Boster and Luke Chappie have both pitched at least 30 innings for Wilmington with Boster leading the way in strikeouts (51) while carrying a 5.70 ERA. Jesse Reliford has two saves on the season and has a 4.26 ERA in 6.1 innings pitched. Brennon Newell has been Capital's most effective pitcher to date, carrying a 4.15 ERA in over 17 innings pitched. Thomas Gallant has thrown 44 innings for the Purple Raiders ahd has 58 striekouts and a 3.89 ERA. Mount Union, as a pitching staff, carries a 4.15 ERA.
