WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College baseball team steps out of Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) for a mid-week, non-conference contest with Berea College on Thursday. First pitch from Berea is scheduled for 6 p.m. (note the location, date and time change).

The Teams: Wilmington and Berea. The Quakers are an even 11-11 on the season after falling in two high-scoring games to John Carroll University at Austintown Fitch High School on Saturday. The Mountaineers are 4-20 on the season after falling in a three-game series against Piedmont College at home over the weekend.

The Coaches: Tony Vittorio, who formerly led the University of Dayton's baseball program for 18 seasons, enters his fourth season as Wilmington's head coach. For the first time in nearly a decade in 2021, the Quakers didn't finish 10th in the OAC, turning in an eighth-place finish with a 10-24 conference mark. Frank Pufall is Berea's baseball coach.

The Hitters: A trio of Quakers – Caleb Scott, Dominic Depa and Aaron Burns – have driven in at least 20 runs while Evan Kelsey, who hits a .415 clip, and Tyler Shaneyfelt have swiped over a dozen bases thus far this season. Scott leads the team in average (.415) and slugging percentage (.622). Marcelo Manrique leads the Berea offense with 11 doubles, 42 total bases and a .329 batting average.

The Pitchers: Aaron Boster leads Wilmington in innings pitched with 43.1 innings while carrying a 4.15 earned run average with a 3-2 record on the season and 48 strikeouts. Reliford has been consistent for the Quakers as a closer with two saves and a 4.26 earned run average as well as a 2-1 record. The Mountaineer duo of Derek Hay and Peyton Hooper have pitched a combined 58.1 innings.

Series History: Wilmington has not played Berea in the last decade.
