Men's Lacrosse Drops Last Home Game of the Season

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's lacrosse team was defeated 25-2 at home in Williams Stadium on Saturday afternoon in its last home contest of the season 25-2 against Ohio Northern University.

Ohio Northern came out swinging, scoring the first 15 goals of the game, 11 in the first and another six total goals in the second period. The Quakers finally netted one with less than two minutes in the first half from Justen Shaw assisted by Austin Young. They wouldn't score again until the last play of the game when Andy Kathman knifed through three defenders to find the back of the net with no time left on the clock. Reed Beavers adds 10 to his save count, keeping him as the top goalie in saves in the Ohio Athletic Conference heading into the last week of play.    

The Polar Bears started mostly senior with 16 different players score this one. ONU lead in all stat categories, outshooting the quakers 49-11, winning 21 of 25 groundballs, and winning 21 of 28 faces-offs.

Wilmington will play to close out the season. The Quakers have a very short break and will travel to Columbus on Tuesday as they make up the previously canceled game against Capital. First face-off is slated for 7 p.m.
