ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Wilmington College men's lacrosse team fell in its first mid-week matchup, 17-2 to the University of Mount Union on Wednesday evening.

Austin Young started the game with Wilmington's first goal halfway into the first quarter. Sawyer Starrett followed that up with a goal in the early part of the second, assisted by Austin Bondurant. That kept it close with a 5-2 score halfway through the second. A 6-1 run in the second period, however, proved to give Mount Union the edge as the Purple Raiders slowly pulled away. Mount Union would go on to score eight more goals in the second half, giving them a 17-2 victory.

Logan Addonizio led the way for the hosts with three goals and four assists. Wilmington's number continue to improve as the Quakers hit double digits in saves totaling 14 today and won 36 ground balls. Mount Union tallied eight saves and won 46 ground balls. Both teams were fairly even on turnovers, but Wilmington was down big in both shots and faceoff wins.

Wilmington (0-4) will be back on the field this Saturday at home in Williams Stadium for a 1 p.m. contest against Muskingum University.
