WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's lacrosse team travels to Muskingum University for the final mid-week game of the season on Wednesday evening. First face-off is slated for 7 p.m.
The Teams: Wilmington and Muskingum. The Fightin' Quakers (0-9) are on another quick turn-around after just hosting Mount Union at home on Saturday. Muskingum is currently 2-8 after losing its last four games in OAC play. Wilmington increased its shooting percentage yet again to 23% after coming off its best in-game start of the year. Their number of ground ball wins is now up to 130, they even increased their shots on goal. Mount Union has a shot percentage of 20% scoring 70 goals on 185 attempts. They have recovered 303 ground balls so far and won 34% of their face-off attempts and committing 238 turnovers.
The Coaches: Jeff Arneson is in his fourth year leading the Wilmington men's lacrosse program. Prior to leading the Quakers to a 5-9 record two seasons ago, and a 4-0 start before the season was cancelled due to COVID19 protocol. Arneson, a Wilmington High School alumnus, spent six seasons as head coach at Thiel College (Pennsylvania). Alec Chisholm is in his fourth season as the head men's lacrosse coach at Muskingum University after serving as the defensive coordinator and assistant coach for the Oberlin College, here in Ohio.
The Players: Reed Beavers remains at the top of the leader-board as we start the next week. His 140 saves put him ahead by ten over the second-place goalie, and 17 saves ahead of Muskingum's Trevor Connolly coming into Wednesday's contest. Austin Young and Jonathan Lokey continue to make a push for the Quakers as they lead in scoring and assists. Spencer Zecchini and Hazen Powell lead for the Muskies earning 36 points between the two of them.
Series History: This is the seventh time these two programs have met, and even though Wilmington has lost the last two, the Quakers won the first four meetings. More information on the series history can be viewed by visiting the link above.
