Men's Basketball Travels to Otterbein on Wednesday for Final Road Test of Season

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's basketball team opens the final week of its 2022-23 season with a trip to Otterbein University on Wednesday. Tip-off from the Rike Center is scheduled for 7 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and Otterbein. The Quakers enter the game 7-16 overall and 3-13 in OAC contests after a 94-60 defeat at Marietta College on Saturday. The Cardinals stand at 14-9 on the season and an even 8-8 in league games after a 90-80 defeat at Heidelberg University on Saturday.

The Coaches: Micah Mills enters his eighth season with the Wilmington men's basketball program with the 2022-23 campaign being his first as head coach. He helped WC to a 17-8 record during the 2018-19 season and came within a game of the program's first OAC regular season championships. Mills, a graduate of Ohio Valley University, spent three seasons as an assistant coach at fellow OAC member Otterbein University before coming to Wilmington. Andy Winters is in his fourth season as Otterbein's head coach in 2022-23. He led the Cardinals to a 17-8 record last season and formerly spent five years as the top assistant at Capital University.

The Players: Both Abdul Kanu and Obed Achirem score in double figures for Wilmington with Kanu leading the way in scoring at 13.4 points per game and Achirem grabbing a team-best 8.2 rebounds a contest. Bryce Bird, Collin Barker and Domenic Farley score at least six points per contest with Farley assisting on two baskets per game. A trio of Cardinals - Cam Evans, Dallas Patrick and Julian Heckman - score in double figures with Evans' 17.9 points per game leading the team. Alex Hannah joins Evans and Patrick to grab over five rebounds per game.

Tale of the Tape: Points per game – Wilmington 68.1, Otterbein 71.6; opponents' points per game – Wilmington 79.2, Otterbein 68.2; field goal percentage – Wilmington 40.0, Otterbein 43.8; three-point percentage – Wilmington 33.2, Otterbein 33.8; free throw percentage – Wilmington 64.3, Otterbein 72.3; rebounding margin – Wilmington -3.7, Otterbein +0.1; assist-to-turnover ratio – Wilmington 0.67, Otterbein 1.00.

Recent History: Wilmington is 29-18 against Otterbein since becoming an NCAA Division III member in the early 1990s.
