Men's Basketball Closes Out Homestand by Hosting Muskingum on Wednesday

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's basketball team closes out a three-game home stand with an Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) matchup with Muskingum University on Wednesday. Tip-off from Fred Raizk Arena is slated for 7 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and Muskingum. The Quakers enter the matchup with a 6-14 overall record including a 2-12 OAC record after a 97-85 defeat to No. 5 the University of Mount Union at home on Saturday. The Fighting Muskies are 1-20 on the season and 1-13 in conference contest having most recently fallen to Heidelberg University 87-67 at home on Saturday.

The Coaches: Micah Mills enters his eighth season with the Wilmington men's basketball program with the 2022-23 campaign being his first as head coach. He helped WC to a 17-8 record during the 2018-19 season and came within a game of the program's first OAC regular season championships. Mills, a graduate of Ohio Valley University, spent three seasons as an assistant coach at fellow OAC member Otterbein University before coming to Wilmington. Nathan Wahle, formerly an assistant at DePauw University, is in his first season as Muskingum's head coach.

The Players: Both Abdul Kanu and Obed Achirem score in double figures for Wilmington with Kanu's 13.9 points per game leading the squad. Achirem also scores in double figures and is one of the OAC's top rebounders at 8.1 rebounds per contest. Domenic Farley assists on two baskets per contests while Gavin Heimlich blocks 1.4 shots per game. A trio of Muskies - Logan Stotzer, DJ Donnell and Luken Hill - all score between 8-9 points per game while Hill leads the team in rebounding at 6.1 board per contest.

Tale of the Tape: Points per game – Wilmington 68.5, Muskingum 60.8; opponents' points per game – Wilmington 79.5, Muskingum 78.6; field goal percentage – Wilmington 39.9, Muskingum 39.0; three-point percentage – Wilmington 32.5, Muskingum 29.9; free throw percentage – Wilmington 65.0, Muskingum 65.8; rebounding margin – Wilmington -3.9, Muskingum -4.1; assist-to-turnover ratio – Wilmington 0.67, Muskingum 0.60.
