Men's Basketball Continues OAC Play at Muskingum on Wednesday

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's basketball team looks for its second consecutive Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) victory with a trip to Muskingum University on Wednesday. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and Muskingum. The Quakers enter the matchup with a 5-8 overall record including a 1-5 mark in conference games after a 76-66 victory over Marietta College on Saturday. The Fighting Muskies are searching for their first win of the season having most recently fallen to Baldwin Wallace University 89-76 on Saturday.

The Coaches: Micah Mills enters his eighth season with the Wilmington men's basketball program with the 2022-23 campaign being his first as head coach. He helped WC to a 17-8 record during the 2018-19 season and came within a game of the program's first OAC regular season championships. Mills, a graduate of Ohio Valley University, spent three seasons as an assistant coach at fellow OAC member Otterbein University before coming to Wilmington. Nathan Wahle, formerly an assistant at DePauw University, is in his first season as Muskingum's head coach.

The Players: Wilmington is led by a pair of frontcourt players as Abdul Kanu and Obed Achirem both score in double figures. Kanu leads the way at 14.3 points per game and is coming off of a 21-point performance in the Quakers' win over Marietta on Saturday. Achirem nearly averages a double-double with 11.5 points and 9.2 rebounds a contest. Bryce Bird, who poured in 19 points against the Pioneers on Saturday, averages 9.1 points per game and leads the squad in assists. Two Muskies - Logan Stotzer and DJ Donnell - score in double figures while Luken Hill grabs 4.6 reboudns per game for Muskingum.

Tale of the Tape: Points per game – Wilmington 71.0, Muskingum 60.0; opponents' points per game – Wilmington 78.9, Muskingum 79.9; field goal percentage – Wilmington 41.8, Muskingum 39.4; three-point percentage – Wilmington 33.6, Muskingum 28.1; free throw percentage – Wilmington 61.5, Muskingum 64.5; rebounding margin – Wilmington -1.6, Muskingum -4.6; assist-to-turnover ratio – Wilmington 0.65, Muskingum 0.47.
