WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's basketball team hosts Kenyon College in the home-opener for the Quakers on Saturday. Tip-off from Hermann Court is scheduled for 2 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and Kenyon. The Quakers enter the matchup with a 2-1 record and looking to rebound after an 83-61 defeat at Franklin College on Thursday evening. The Owls are a perfect 3-0 after a wire-to-wire 60-50 win at Grove City College on Wednesday.

The Coaches: Micah Mills enters his eighth season with the Wilmington men's basketball program with the 2022-23 campaign being his first as head coach. He helped WC to a 17-8 record during the 2018-19 season and came within a game of the program's first OAC regular season championships. Mills, a graduate of Ohio Valley University, spent three seasons as an assistant coach at fellow OAC member Otterbein University before coming to Wilmington. Dan Priest, a 1990 graduate of Ohio Northern University, is in his 13th season as Kenyon's head coach. 

The Players: Abdul Kanu and Obed Achirem both score in double figures to lead Wilmington in scoring. Lucas Doty is third on the squad in scoring at 9.7 points per contest while Achirem grabs a team-high nine rebounds a game. Bryce Bird assists on three Quaker baskets a contest. A trio of Owls - Anthony Testa, Gefen Bar-Cohen and Miles Versa - score in double figures while David Mazon III grabs 10.7 boards per 40 minutes.

Tale of the Tape: Points per game – Wilmington 75.3, Kenyon 68.3; opponents' points per game – Wilmington 71.7, Kenyon 54.3; field goal percentage – Wilmington 46.8, Kenyon 41.1; three-point percentage – Wilmington 31.6, Kenyon 36.4; free throw percentage – Wilmington 50.8, Kenyon 68.5; rebounding margin – Wilmington +1.3, Kenyon +10.0; assist-to-turnover ratio – Wilmington 0.67, Kenyon 0.80.

Food Drive Game: The men's basketball program has partnered with Our Father's Kitcen and the Clinton County Homeless Shelter for a food drive game. Fnas that bring a non-perishable food item will receive free admission to the contest. Additionally, donations will taken for both.

Recent History: Wilmington is 2-1 against Kenyon in the last 35 seasons. The last time the two teams met, the Owls defeated the Quakers 99-90 on Nov. 20, 1990. More information on the series history can be viewed by visiting the link above.
