Women's Track & Field Heads to OAC Outdoor Championships This Weekend

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College women's track & field team travels to Otterbein University for the 2019 Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Friday and Saturday. Events are scheduled to begin at noon on Friday and 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.

The Teams: All 10 OAC institutions will complete in the meet – Baldwin Wallace University, Capital University, Heidelberg University, John Carroll University, Marietta College, The University of Mount Union, Muskingum University, Ohio Northern University, Otterbein University and Wilmington College.

The Coach: Ron Combs enters his 19th season as the head coach of Wilmington's men's and women's track and field teams. Combs has been named Coach of the Year, twice by the Heartland Athletic Conference, and once by the OAC. In 2002, he led the men's indoor team to a sixth-place finish at NCAA DIII Championships.

Who to Watch – Track Events: Wilmington will bring eight individuals to compete in the track events including several that will be running in multiple events. Emma Burke and Sidney Fields will compete in both the 100-meter and 400-meter hurdles while Cheyenne Rhodes will run in the 400-meter dash. In distance events, Brooke Gibbons will represent the Fightin' Quakers in the 1500-meter dash whiel Savannah Rhodes is slated to run in the 10,000-meter run. Finally, a trio of Quakers - Allison Helmke, Katie Hughes and Kendra Stahl - will all compete in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

Who to Watch – Field Events: Kayli Sullivan is scheduled to throw in all three events while Morgan Loomis will compete in the javelin toss. In jumping events, Keva Cox and Tiffany Snider will represent Wilmington in the high jump.
