Women's Track & Field Finishes as Second-Highest D3 Team at Heidelberg

RESULTS

TIFFIN, Ohio – The Wilmington College women's track & field team finished in seventh place in a field of NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III schools at the Tiffelberg Invitational hosted by Heidelberg University on Saturday.

The Fightin' Quakers finished with 34 points as a team, making Wilmington the second-highest finishing NCAA Division III team at the event. Wittenberg University placed sixth with a total of 41 points.

Morgan Loomis turned in a person-best mark of 111' 6 ¼" in the javelin throw that earned her a third-place finish. She was also the runner-up NCAA Division III finisher in the event as Kaitlin Kobuszewski of Marietta College took second in the event. Kayli Sullivan also scored in the hammer throw, placing fifth with a hurl of 139' 6 ½".

Emma Burke took third place in the 400-meter hurdles with a mark of 1:05.35, finishing less than a second behind Heidelberg's Allison Schwarzbek who placed as the top Division III individual in the event. The other individual to score for Wilmington was Katie Hughes, who took sixth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (12:49.00).

Wilmington's 4-x-400-meter relay squad of Cheyenne Rhoades, Burke, Sidney Fields and Amber LaRotonda tallied a fourth-place finish with a time of 4:17.36. Wittenberg was the only Division III team to beat the Quakers in the event.

Wilmington continues its outdoor season at the All-Ohio meet hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University next weekend.
