Burke Qualifies for Finals in 60-Meter Hurdles

ADA, Ohio – The Wilmington College women's track and field team stands in eighth place after day one of the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Ohio Northern University on Friday evening.

In sprints, Emma Burke qualified for the finals of the 60-meter hurdles for the third consecutive year by placing eighth in the prelims with a time of 9.45 seconds.

In distance events, Katie Hughes took 20th in the 5,000-meter run with a mark of 20:38.66. Cheyenne Rhodes also competed in the 500-meter dash.

In field events, Kayli Sullivan threw a mark of 40' 10 ¾" in the weight throw, good for a 17th-place finish.

The Fightin' Quakers' 4,000-meter distance medley relay team of Brooke Gibbons, Burke, Savannah Rhodes and Allison Helmke placed sixth, crossing the finish line in 13:44.25.

Day two of competition tomorrow (Saturday) begins with field events at 10 a.m. followed by track events at 2 p.m.
