Women's Track & Field Places Sixth at Centre Twilight Meet

DANVILLE, Kentucky – The Wilmington College women's track & field team finished the Centre Twilight Meet in sixth place on Friday evening.

Wilmington tallied 42 points to finish behind NCAA Division III schools Centre College and Berea College as well as ahead of Transylvania University and Spalding University.

The Fightin' Quakers throwers placed in every event. Kayli Sullivan took fourth place in both the hammer throw (132' 2") and the shot put (37' 8"). In both events, the sophomore finished less than two inches behind third place individuals from Kentucky State University. She also finished seventh in the discus with a mark of 107' 9". Morgan Loomis rounded out Wilmington's throwing performances with a sixth-place finish in the javelin with a hurl of 102'.

In jumping events, both Keva Cox and Tiffany Snider placed in the high jump. Both cleared the 4' 7" bar while Cox cleared the 4' 9" bar on her first attempt before bowing out on the 4' 11" bar.

In events on the track, Emma Burke once again placed in two events including a fourth-place finish in the 400-meter dash (1:01.18) and a sixth-place mark in the 200-meter dash (23.02 seconds). Brooke Gibbons also earned her team three points with a time of 5:09.15 in the 1,500-meter run. Gibbons, who was the first NCAA Division III individual to finish in the event, placed sixth.

Wilmington also both of its relay teams score. The 4-x-100-meter relay team of Miranda Gibson, Amber LaRotonda, Cox and Abby Spirk placed fourth with a time of 56.22 seconds while the Quakers' 4-x-400-meter relay squad of Kelly Rice, Kayci Johnson, Gibbons and Katie Hughes finished the event in 4:44.08 and in sixth place.

Burke will represent Wilmington at the All-Ohio Meet tomorrow (Saturday).
